While there has been plenty of football to keep us glued to our television screens since the club football season officially ended on June 10, when Manchester City were crowned champions of Europe, it’s not quite been the same. In the weeks since the 2022-2023 season ended, there has been no shortage of football on our screens. EURO and AFCON 2024 qualifiers took place right after the season concluded, the Nations League immediately followed, and the ongoing spectacle of the FIFA Women’s World Cup has entertained and word us in equal measure. Still, nothing quite beats a weekend of watching the likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland dominate the opposition with consummate ease. Football is back, but when can you start betting on Europe’s top five leagues again? Read on to find out!

**2023/24 Premier League season** [The new Premier League season](https://twitter.com/premierleague/status/1669253419134074881?s=20) will kick off on Friday, August 11, 2023 when Champions Manchester City travel to Turf Moor. There, they’ll face former player, Vincent Kompany, and his newly-promoted Burnley side. The Premier League’s opening weekend will also feature a showdown between Chelsea, now managed by Mauricio Pochettino, and a resurgent Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 13. Elsewhere, Arsenal begin their title challenge against Nottingham Forest on Saturday 12, August, and Manchester United round off matchday one with a Monday night clash against Wolves at Old Trafford.  Finally, Newcastle, who had a fantastic season last time out, finishing in the top four, begin their quest to remain there by taking on Aston Villa on Saturday, while Ange Postecoglou’s reign as Tottenham boss begins with a trip to Brentford on Sunday, August 13. Do you think Vincent Kompany’s Burnley can be giant-killers on their Premier League return?

**2023/24 Serie A season** The new Italian Serie A season is set to kick off on Saturday, August 19, 2023, when Napoli will get the ball rolling with a tricky fixture away to Frosinone. As usual, all eyes are expected to be on last season’s Golden Boot winner, Victor Osimhen.  Osimhen was in imperious form for Napoli, leading them to their first Scudetto win in 33 years. This season, the Nigerian striker will once again be relied on to lead the charge for Rudi Garcia’s men.  There is still some uncertainty as to whether the Super Eagles striker will remain in Naples at the end of the transfer window, with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal keen on bringing him to the Middle East to join high-profile names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane. Although the Saudi side has already had an offer of €140m turned down by Napoli, they are expected to return with a much-improved bid for Osimhen. Whether Osimhen leaves or not, the departure of title-winning head coach Luciano Spalletti will give hope to the other teams aiming to strip Napoli of their crown. Former Al Nassr boss Rudi Garcia has been brought in to replace Spalletti and it remains to be seen how much of an adjustment period is needed.  The chasing pack of AC Milan; who have strengthened admirably, Inter; who were a whisker away from Champions League glory last season, and perhaps Juventus; who have no European football to distract them next season, could and should make for a thrilling campaign. Simeone Inzaghi’s Inter will begin their season against Monza at the San Siro on August 19 while Juventus will begin their campaign on Sunday, August 20 with a trip to Udinese. Finally, AC Milan fans will get a first glimpse of new star signing Samuel Chukwueze in Serie A, when the Rossoneri take on Bologna on Monday, August 21.

**2023/24 LaLiga season** The new season of the Spanish LaLiga will begin on Friday, August 11, 2023, with a match between Almeria and Rayo Vallecano.  Perennial underachievers Valencia travel to Sevilla on the same day looking to have a much improved campaign than last season when they only narrowly escaped relegation. The big boys, Real Madrid and Barcelona are in action on August 12 & 13 respectively.  Carlo Ancelotti is set to unleash new boy Jude Bellingham on the Spanish league when they travel to face Athletic Bilbao, while Barcelona’s defense of their LaLiga crown sees them travel to Getafe.  Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid kickstart their LaLiga campaign with a home tie against Granada and will be full of confidence owing to their strong finish last season. Diego Simeone’s men were imperious in the league after the World Cup, losing just three games in five months. Antoine Griezmann also regained his best form last season, ending the campaign with 15 goals and 16 assists.  With Real Madrid still adjusting to life after Karim Benzema, coupled with Barcelona’s financial issues (it remains to be seen whether they can register Gundogan in time for the new season), there could be a real chance for Atleti to break the Spanish duopoly once again.  Don’t just watch the LaLiga for entertainment, watch it to win and win big. **2023/24 Bundesliga season** Bayern Munich won the league last year but needed to wait until the final day, thanks to Borussia Dortmund, who threw the title away in the last game.  Starting the day two points behind Dortmund, Bayern needed to claim three points against Cologne while hoping their title rivals slip up at home against Mainz.  In one of the most dramatic finales in Bundesliga history, Dortmund went 2-0 down inside the first 20 minutes, missed several chances, including a Sebastien Haller penalty to hand the initiative to Bayern.  The Bavarians did their job, surviving a brief scare and late rally by Cologne, to win 2-1 and Dortmund, who rallied back to 2-2 in their clash with Mainz, fell short in the end. This allowed the Bavarians to win their 11th title in a row. The Champions kick the new season off with a tricky away tie against Werder Bremen on August 18, while Borussia Dortmund, who lost Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid this summer, begin their season with a home tie against FC Koln, a day later.

**2023/24 Ligue 1 season** Paris Saint-Germain somehow managed to win Ligue 1 last season, holding on to claim their ninth title in 11 years, despite the pursuit of Lens who finished second by a solitary point.  This season, the number of teams in the French league has dropped to 18 teams from 20 last season, with Le Havre and Metz being promoted despite the relegation of four teams. Champions, PSG will kick off the new campaign with a home game against Lorient on August 12. It remains to be seen whether Kylian Mbappe will still be plying his trade in the French capital by then, given the current public standoff between him and the club.
