Matchday 4 serves up two mouth-watering fixtures. Defending champions PSG welcome a Bayern Munich side yet to drop a point in any competition, while Liverpool hope Saturday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa sparks a revival ahead of a blockbuster clash with Real Madrid with Trent Alexander-Arnold making his first return home.
Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal face a tricky trip to the Czech Republic amid injury woes, and Barcelona, also battling fitness concerns, head to Belgium to face Club Brugge. Here’s what to expect, courtesy our bet wizard:

Slavia Prague vs. Arsenal
Arsenal’s season is running like a well-oiled machine, and they head to Prague looking to keep their perfect Champions League record intact. Mikel Arteta’s men have swept aside all challengers so far, including a 4-0 demolition of Atletico Madrid last time out, their seventh straight win in the league phase and ninth in all competitions. They’re yet to concede in Europe this season and sit fourth in the overall standings, just behind Inter, Bayern, and PSG.
However, injuries threaten to disrupt that rhythm. Gabriel Martinelli, who has scored in every Champions League game, is sidelined with a groin issue, while Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi (suspended) also miss out. Captain Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus remain unavailable, meaning Christian Nørgaard could make his first UCL start as Mikel Merino again leads the line.
Slavia Prague, meanwhile, have gone five games without conceding in all competitions and remain unbeaten at home this season. Their only defeat came to Inter, and they’ll look to frustrate Arsenal with energy and set-piece pressure. Still, the Czech side’s European struggles are clear; they sit 28th in the 36-team standings with just two points and have never beaten Arsenal in four meetings.
The Gunners are heavy favourites, but with injuries piling up and a trip to Newcastle looming, Arteta’s men might value efficiency over fireworks this time. I think this is one of those games our online sports betting community should lean on for low scoring.
Betting Tips:
Liverpool vs. Real Madrid
Liverpool and Real Madrid meet again, and this is quickly becoming an annual affair. The Champions League just can’t seem to keep them apart. This time it’s at Anfield, where Arne Slot’s side are desperate to build on Saturday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa that briefly silenced the sack talk. Mohamed Salah hit his 250th Liverpool goal that day, and Ryan Gravenberch’s return from injury added some spark, but the Reds have still won just two of their last eight in all competitions.
Europe, though, has been kinder. Liverpool hammered Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 last time out and have now won 15 straight home group-stage games. They also beat Real Madrid 2-0 here last season, ending an eight-game losing run to Los Blancos. However, this is a different Real Madrid.
Former Anfield hero, Xabi Alonso is having a brilliant start to life at the Bernabeu with his Madrid side winning all three Champions League games and topping La Liga after battering Valencia 4-0. Kylian Mbappé’s brace over the weekend took his tally to 18 goals in 14 games this season, a scoring from only bettered by Harry Kane. He is one of the UCL top scorers for the season and you can bet he’ll be itching to get on the scoresheet. Across all 14 games played this season, Los Blancos won 13. Their only loss came in a chaotic 5-2 derby with Atletico. There’s also the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold which adds a little spice to the game. The fans weren’t exactly happy when he moved to Spain this summer and a not-so-warm welcome is expected from the Anfield crowd.
Still, Real’s record in England isn’t spotless (just two wins in their last nine trips), and with key defenders Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, and David Alaba doubtful, Anfield’s roar might just make this another long night for the Spanish giants.
Betting Tips:
Napoli vs. Frankfurt
Both licking their wounds after heavy defeats, Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt clash at the Stadio Maradona on Tuesday looking to steady their Champions League campaigns. Goals are practically guaranteed in this one which makes it a straightforward pick for sports betting. All three of Frankfurt’s group games have ended 5-1, while only one of their last 68 European outings has finished goalless.
Antonio Conte’s men were thrashed 6-2 by PSV last time out despite a Scott McTominay brace, but they’ve since reclaimed top spot in Serie A after edging Inter and Lecce. They remain unbeaten at home this season and have lost just once in their last 18 Champions League games in Naples; a run that includes a 2-0 win over Frankfurt in 2023.
Frankfurt, meanwhile, have been all over the place defensively, conceding 25 goals in their last eight matches. After opening with a 5-1 win over Galatasaray, they’ve been hammered by Atletico Madrid and Liverpool by the same scoreline. Still, Dino Toppmöller’s side rarely give up without a fight. They’ve scored in 13 of 14 games this season, with Jonathan Burkardt and Mario Götze leading the charge.
Betting Tips:
PSG vs. Bayern Munich
It doesn’t get much bigger than this. The Champions League’s top two; holders, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, a team on a European record 15-game winning streak to start the season. Both have nine points from nine, both lead their domestic leagues, and both are loaded with firepower.
PSG come into this one on a roll, unbeaten in Europe and fresh off a dramatic 1-0 Ligue 1 win over Nice, sealed by a 94th-minute Gonçalo Ramos strike. Luis Enrique’s men thrashed Leverkusen 7-2 last time out in the UCL and have won all but one of their home games this season. They’ll be without suspended defender Illia Zabarnyi and injured Désiré Doué, but Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Bradley Barcola are expected to lead the line.
Vincent Kompany’s Bayern, meanwhile, have been untouchable; 15 wins from 15 this season, 54 goals scored, and five points clear in the Bundesliga. Harry Kane already has 22 goals in all competitions and leads the Champions League scoring charts with five.
Bayern have won their last four against PSG, but the holders have turned the Parc into a fortress. The easy football prediction here is to expect goals.
Betting Tips:
Manchester City vs. Dortmund
Sixth meets seventh in a heavyweight showdown at the Etihad on Wednesday as Manchester City host Borussia Dortmund in a clash of Champions League contenders separated only by goal difference. Both sides have seven points from three games, but their paths to that tally couldn’t be more different.
Pep Guardiola’s City have quietly gone about their business, beating Napoli and Villarreal 2-0 and drawing 2-2 with Monaco. They’ve also rediscovered their rhythm domestically with back-to-back 3-1 wins after a blip at Aston Villa. Erling Haaland (who faces his former club) has 17 goals in 13 appearances this season and scored the winner the last time Dortmund visited Manchester.
For Niko Kovač’s men, goals have come in floods on European nights. Dortmund have struck four in each of their three Champions League matches so far; a 4-4 thriller at Juventus, 4-1 over Athletic Bilbao, and 4-2 at Copenhagen. It’s the first time in club history they’ve managed four-plus in three straight UCL games.
City have never lost at home to Dortmund and have won 11 straight against German teams at the Etihad, but BVB’s blend of confidence, momentum, and Felix Nmecha-inspired flair makes them a genuine threat.
Betting Tips:
Club Brugge vs. Barcelona
Barcelona travel to Belgium on Wednesday night aiming to make it back-to-back Champions League wins and climb into the top eight of the league-phase table. Hansi Flick’s men sit ninth with six points from three games, bouncing back from their home defeat to PSG with victories over Newcastle and Olympiacos. Sunday’s 3-1 win over Elche in La Liga also helped steady the ship, with Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo returning to fitness just in time.
Club Brugge, meanwhile, have been a mixed bag in Europe. An emphatic 4-1 opening win over Monaco was followed by bruising losses to Atalanta and Bayern Munich. Still, Nicky Hayden’s side have won three on the bounce domestically and currently sit second in the Belgian Pro League. Greek winger Christos Tzolis has been their standout performer this season, racking up 16 goal contributions in 21 games, while Nicolo Tresoldi continues to impress up front.
Barcelona are unbeaten in two previous meetings with Brugge, winning both back in 2002, and will be favourites again here. But with Marc-André ter Stegen, Raphinha, and Pedri still sidelined, this could be trickier than it looks, especially against a confident Brugge side with nothing to lose at home. However, they have Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and an in-form Marcus Rashford to turn to. My bet of the day is for the Englishman to get on the scoresheet and we have the best odds for that which can see you get 2x your betting stake.
