Randal Kolo Muani and Gonçalo Ramos were both benched for this game with Asensio, and later, Kylian Mbappé used up top, and this didn’t produce the desired result. As a result, Enrique will have his work cut out for him when he returns to the city he led to a treble almost a decade ago. Barcelona are on the verge of a first UCL semi-final appearance since 2018, and they look determined to not waste this chance. It’ll take something special for PSG to turn this tie around and the Parisians will have to lean heavily on their star player, Kylian Mbappé, who may have been kept quiet last week, but is one for the big occasion. Also, we expect more goals on Tuesday. Andrea Christensen’s winning goal in Paris was the 50th goal scored in just 14 meetings between these two teams in Europe. This will linger at the back of his mind, and we can expect him to be ultra-defensive. Surprise, surprise. After an impressive first half of the season that saw him score 16 goals in 23 appearances, the goals have dried up for Alvaro Morata in recent months. Since the calendar flipped to 2024, he has 4 goals in 20 games for club and country and, in the victory over Girona this weekend, you could tell this was weighing on his mind. One player who still holds significant influence in this tie, though, is Antoine Griezmann, and our bet of the day is for him to get on the scoresheet. The Frenchman can influence games both as a scorer and as a creator, making it hard for the opposition to plan against. In Saturday’s 3-1 win over Girona, he scored a brace to take his season tally to 21 goals. Yet, in the first leg against Dortmund, he showcased his playmaking skills by creating 6 chances — his highest in a Champions League game and the most by an Atletico player since Koke in 2016. **Manchester City vs. Real Madrid (3-3 Agg)** Last season, Manchester City became the 8th European team to win the treble, but this season, they have their sights set on something even more ambitious - becoming the first team to win back-to-back trebles. Last year, with a noticeable gap in quality, Real Madrid adopted a more conservative approach, resulting in a 4-0 demolition at the Etihad. However, last week at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid had a more adventurous approach going forward, and it paid dividends. Having seen 6 goals fly in the net in the first leg, we believe this second leg will also have its share of goals. The last 5 meetings between these two sides have produced 23 goals, an average of 4.6 goals per game. Also, two of those five games have seen goals come in the opening 2 minutes, including Bernado Silva’s free kick after 1:49 mins last week. If they aim to prove themselves as deserving champions of England, they must bounce back by defeating Bayern in Germany. Such a victory would send a powerful message. One worry for Bayern is the shortage of wingers ahead of this game which could give the Gunners an advantage on the flanks. In the first leg, former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry was taken off after pulling his hamstring, while on Saturday, Kingsley Coman suffered what many believe to be a season-ending muscle injury. With Leroy Sane, who has only recently returned to full fitness, and Mathys Tel as the only available wingers, it could prove to be a challenging night for the Bavarians. While Thomas Tuchel aims to become only the second manager in history to lead three teams to the Champions League semi-finals (after Jose Mourinho), Arteta also seeks to leave his mark in his debut campaign in this competition.
